Car Insurance Companies Lobbying for Cheap Parts Legislation
Some repair shops and car parts manufacturers are being pitted with auto insurance companies due to a new car legislation in Congress Bill H.R. 3059 is the Access to Repair Parts Act suggested by Representative Zoe Lofgren (D) of San Jose. More imported spare parts for autos will be imported into the US if this law is passed. However, the bill only includes specific collision parts hoods, fenders, doors, and windshields. Since most specified car parts are purchased by insurance companies and not by consumers, insurance providers also pay for the labor of replacing these parts. Repair costs would decrease dramatically for companies and consumers if parts are purchased outside of the US. The bill does remove the sheet metal encasing that manufacturers have for the design of cars. The fear collision repair specialists have is that most imported car parts will be clones of sample parts, not the real ones. This means that while they will be far from perfect to closely resemble original parts. The use and installation of these imported parts can spell disaster. 9w8u1b41jk8qiw85
